The Purple room is dedicated to preparing children for pre-school. In this room they will become more independent and responsible. Children are taught and encouraged to do things for themselves. They will begin to follow routines and directions that are more challenging for their age. Morning gathering is right after breakfast. Dancing, singing, reading and nursery rhymes are all a part of each day's beginning. This is the age where friendships develop, and boundaries are tested. The children are allowed the freedom to experience choices and experiment with their newfound power. Colors and shapes are integrated within the learning. Letters and numbers are introduced independently for the first time. Guided learning is used to encourage new ideas and thoughts. The children sit down as a family to eat their meals. The children assist at mealtime and nap time to share in the social responsibility of a group. The afternoon is time to practice with play the things that they are learning. The teachers supervise and interact with the children during play.
